The last day of the vision clinic came very quickly! It was in Cofradia on Friday, which is the little village we're living in. :) We had it up in the church yard a couple blocks from our house. In total we were able to help 1,175 people! Talk about an amazing experience. The look of joy on their faces when they could see was absolutely priceless. It's something I will always cherish. As someone who has always had to rely on glasses and contacts I know what it's like not being able to see.
Dispensing glasses :) We had a good old time trying to communicate. ha ha. I'll never forgot how to say "Can you see far? Can you see close? Which one is better? Which do you like? Is it comfortable on your nose and ears?" :)
The view from top of the Hacienda.
Allison, Naye and me. :)
Mexican Cheetos. They taste like normal. ha ha. I'll have to bring home some Rancheritos though! They're so good! We also went to the panaderia (bakery). SO good! I thought I was going to eat healthier, but the food is so good!
Adriana and I. :)
Funny face!
Jump rope with a slinky! They never run out of ways to have fun!
Making tortillas with Tina!!! So much fun! I have a tortilla press at home already but now I know the correct technique. :) We asked her to teach us how to make enchiladas and more too! P.S. Oaxaca (Wuh-HA-cuh) cheese is the best!!!
To put in perspective how bad my eyes are I had one of the doctors check the prescription of my old pair of glasses. To be honest, they didn't believe me the first time I told them I thought I was a -13. Haha, the looks on their faces when they saw the prescription was kinda funny. I'm a -15 in my right eye and a -13 in my left. I would be considered legally blind if they couldn't correct my vision to what it is now. I have 20/<400 vision. Meaning that what I can see at 20 feet away normal people can see clearly at over 400 feet away, if that makes sense. I believe that the largest prescription we gave out was about a -7, maybe a -8. The great majority of people were between a -0.5 and -4 or so. Anyway, the point is that I am very grateful to live in a place where I had the opportunity to always have glasses and contacts. I wouldn't have been able to function in society! I can't imagine how different my life would have been. I'm very grateful to my parents and to my Heavenly Father!
